Lots of randomness
Lots of randomness...and maybe I can get back to this blogging business. Just maybe though.
I was flipping through something on Facebook the other day and discovered that Little Man's mama and I have 51 mutual friends on FB. That's only 19 less mutual friends than TDM and I have. We both (Little Man's mama and I) agreed that it is a significant number. And I think the story is just a little bit funnier because I keep getting unfriended because of my big mouth and nine times out of ten Little Mans Mama goes down with me. Perhaps if I kept my mouth shut we could have 70 mutual friends?
Oh the drama.
TDM has been back on the road in a Vroom Vroom since the first of the year. By the way, that's a semi truck for anyone not fluent in Smiley Girl speak. "Chicago twice in a week. I would rather pull my toenails off" was his Facebook post earlier this week. And then he had to drive through it again.
I wonder how his toes are feeling?!
The need for a regular income became an urgent need and trucking is a means to that end. We are praying that it isn't forever, as we both feel that ministry is still something that the Lord is preparing us for. But the wheels of God's kingdom are sometimes slow to turn so for now, for this season, this is our life. The downside is that TDM is sent to places like Chicago and doesn't control his schedule. We don't get a lot of family time these days but make the most of what we are given. On the upside, TDM doesn't have to fill the fuel tanks with his money, spend all weekend working on the truck and I have an empty filing cabinet since I'm no longer a glorified secretary. That's more than a few wins.
The girls and I made a trip north to visit Uncle Pedro. Except that he wasn't there most of the time, so we enjoyed hanging out, shopping and eating ice cream with Aunt GG. And the Wooh's. Don't forget the Wooh's. (Again, that's Smiley Girl speak for dog.) Aunt GG has two golden ones. They used to have names, now they are both named Wooh. Like Pooh, the silly old bear. Only it's with a W and they are silly dogs. We had fun and stayed an extra day because Uncle Pedro got to come home a day early to enjoy the traveling Zoo. (Uh that's us...)
We arrived home last night and I would be lying if I said that I wasn't relieved to no longer have to listen to "Are we there yet?", "How much longer?" and "Ah wa ow ma see!" (I want out of my seat!) The memories made far outweigh the questions though so we will be doing it again soon! Oh! And we discovered that the northerners get it right - you can get hand dipped ice cream cones there even with it's 23 degrees below zero. There is nothing not right about that!
This morning I found myself reading in Galations. Galations 2:20 is a passage that I have often read but apparently I have either never paid attention to verse 21 or have never read it.
Galations 2 -
verse 20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
verse 21: I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Um, wow! Take that legalism, and satan, and everything else that tries to lessen the power of Grace! The definition of "frustrate" is literally "To cause someone to feel discouraged, to prevent from succeeding."
Prevent Grace from succeeding? Christ dying in vain? I think not! What a different world we would live in in Christians truly embraced grace through Jesus.
Speaking of God, I was amazed by the 'mountains' made from snow that we saw as we travelled. Absolutely amazing! And if I can figure out how to get the pictures from my phone to the blog I will share them. They are well worth sharing! God's creation, whether green and sunny or frozen and white is amazing!
Have a great weekend friends!
