Thursday Night Entertainment

Oh, for the love of Laundry.  Little Man's mama was lamenting about laundry earlier this week.  And then yesterday I was on a roll working on some things at home, but wanting to hang out with a friend and I still had the blasted laundry hanging over my head.  In like the 'I know I should go start a load, but I just really don't feel like it' kind of way.

Lightning struck about then - in the form of an invite to Little Man's mama to load the kids and our laundry up after naptime and head off to the Laundromat for a play date / accomplish something and have fun date.  She thought it was a pretty good idea, and so did another mama friend of ours that has a 2 1/2 year old at the pee-on-everything-in-sight stage of potty training.

Laundromats were created for mama's in the stage of pee on everything potty training.

So, that's what we did last night.  Three mama's, three four year olds, one potty obsessed 2 1/2 year old, one 1 1/2 year old and a one year old along with enough dirty laundry to fill a small U-haul.  And yep, you counted right, six kids.  Laundromat lady was thrilled to see us coming!

While two of us started laundry, another went to get pizza and drinks.  When she came back we occupied all of the kids while she started her laundry.  It was a great tag team experience and through the whole washing, swapping to dryer, checking dryers, folding process I think we only thought we lost kids a couple of times.  (No children were actually lost which is always a bonus.)  Laundromat lady was entertained by the kids though we sensed a little annoyance on her part about the amount of times the bathroom was used in the roughly 2 1/2 hours that we were there.

We all went home with clean laundry, tired kids and that awesome feeling that comes from time spent with good friends.  At some point Little Man's Mama snapped a picture and shared the experience on Facebook.  We were all laughing at one of the replies, from someone who lives in a MUCH bigger town and I felt the need to point out that back in my single days the only real entertainment on a Thursday night was to drive past the fire station and watch the guys washing the trucks.

Ah, small town life is exciting!
